What happens to a transparent background?
JPG has no transparency — the background turns white. Need transparency? Pick WebP or PNG: PNG gets compressed too, with fewer colors.
Why is a PNG so heavy?
PNG stores every pixel losslessly — for photos that’s overkill. JPG and WebP drop what the eye doesn’t notice, so the file is several times lighter.
Can I compress a PNG without changing the format?
Yes: choose “PNG”. Quality 100 is lossless; lower means fewer colors in the palette and an even lighter file.
