Questions
Why reduce a photo to a set number of KB?
Many forms and sites have a limit: applications, profiles, résumés and online accounts often accept photos up to, say, 200 KB or 1 MB.
How are kilobytes counted?
With room to spare: a file “under 200 KB” is no larger than 200,000 bytes and no larger than 200 × 1024 — so it passes the limit however the site counts it.
What if the photo doesn’t fit?
Quality is lowered first; if the file is still too heavy at the lower limit, the photo is resized in pixels, and you will see to what size.
